Long-term contract means new biomass markets

Cody Neff looks at a pine forest and sees a bounty, not in timber and land, but in needles and bark.
Neff owns West Range Reclamation, which recently received a 10-year, Long Term Stewardship Contract from the U.S. Forest Service. He plans to thin 4,000 acres of forest each year in the Pike and Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forests.
Pike is part of the Pike & San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron & Comanche National Grasslands system.
“Cody looks for opportunities to use forest products,” said Pike Peak District Ranger Brent Botts. “He knows more ways to use bark, needles and small limbs than we ever thought possible.”
RTX100 Walk Behind
New RTX100 Walk Behind
Feature: Directional control/handlebar steering
Benefit: 1) This system allows all types of operators to intuitively guide the machine in the intended direction of travel with minimal effort. 2) This type of steering system eliminates the need for additional levers or steering wheels to maneuver the machine simplifying the overall operation so less training is required. 3) The directional control bar also provides an additional leverage point if tractive effort is compromised due to slippery ground conditions.
Feature: Zero turn steering
Benefit: The RTX100 can maneuver in and around confined spaces and around obstacles where other machines can not.
Feature: Interchangeable Tires/Tracks
Benefit: Interchangeable tires and tracks allow the machine to be configured for maximum productivity in varying ground conditions. A separate model platform is not required to add the other option after purchase.
Feature: Tracks
Benefit: Tracks offer increased surface contact for exceptional floatation and tractive effort, particularly in difficult ground conditions or when crossing over an existing trench. Competitive models offer tracks that are narrower, however, floatation may be compromised if the tracks become disabled in an existing trench, as they are narrower than the maximum cut of the trencher.
Feature: Hydraulic system
Benefit: The hydraulic system is designed to increase controllability and productivity.
